Commerce & Humanities Admission · CUET 2026

BBA / BCom / BA Admission 2026: The Complete Pathway Guide

Commerce and humanities admissions underwent the biggest structural shift of the decade when CUET replaced Class 12 percentages for Delhi University from 2022. Over 1.4 million candidates appeared in CUET 2026 for fewer than 70,000 DU seats. Yet CUET and DU are only part of the story — IP University, Symbiosis, Christ, Amity, and dozens of private management universities seat nearly 10 times more students through parallel admission routes.

Frequently Asked Questions

CUET (Common University Entrance Test) replaced Class 12 percentage-based DU admissions from 2022 onwards. The process: (1) Appear in CUET UG for your chosen subjects. (2) DU releases a programme-specific merit list based on CUET score + Class 12 qualifying marks. (3) You participate in CSAS (Common Seat Allocation System) — DU's own counselling portal — where you fill college and programme preferences in order. (4) Multiple rounds of allocation happen; you can upgrade or freeze your seat. DU's CSAS typically runs June–September, overlapping with CUET results. For programmes like BCom (H) at SRCC or B.A. (H) Economics at Lady Shri Ram, competition is intense — CUET 750+ in relevant subjects is typically needed.

For BCom (H) and B.A. Economics, DU's top colleges (SRCC, LSR, Hindu, Ramjas, Hansraj) offer extraordinary alumni networks, faculty quality, and brand recognition at a fraction of private university cost (₹15,000–50,000 per year vs ₹3–7L at private institutions). For BBA specifically, DU does not offer BBA; IP University, Symbiosis Pune (SET-based), NMIMS Mumbai, and Christ University Bangalore are preferred. The honest comparison: if you can secure SRCC or LSR BCom, it outperforms most private alternatives at every price point. If you're looking at DU's lower-ranked colleges vs. Symbiosis or Christ, the private option may offer better placement infrastructure.

CUET scores are valid only for the academic year in which they are awarded. A student who appeared in CUET 2026 must apply for 2026–27 admissions; the score cannot be carried forward to 2027. This is different from JEE (valid 1 year) or NEET (valid 3 years). Students who wish to improve their CUET score must re-appear the following year.

IP University (GGSIPU) runs BBA programmes at affiliated colleges (Vivekananda, Jagan, BPIBS, etc.) with seats allocated through IPU CET (BBA). After IPU CET rounds are complete, colleges release unfilled seats as Institutional Quota (management quota). Candidates need Class 12 with Commerce/any stream with 55%+ aggregate. The process involves applying directly to the affiliated college, paying a higher institutional quota fee (typically ₹80,000–1.4L per year vs ₹40,000–60,000 on merit), and submitting documents. Admission Bridges manages the shortlisting of IPU affiliated BBA colleges and direct application process.

Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune, runs its own entrance test — SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) — for BBA, BCom, BA, Economics, and Mass Communication programmes. SET is not CUET. Symbiosis does not participate in DU CSAS. SIU programmes also require a Personal Interaction (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) round after SET shortlisting. SET is conducted in May; WAT-PI in June. For students interested in Symbiosis BBA (SCMS Pune) or BA (Economics) at Symbiosis School of Economics, the SET score and PI performance both matter. Admission Bridges provides SET preparation guidance and PI coaching as part of the advisory engagement.
